AI-Native SaaS · Startup idea
Dashboards are a UI bug. The product is a chat window over the data warehouse that answers questions in plain English and draws the chart only when asked.
Why now
Snowflake, BigQuery, and Postgres now expose enough metadata for an agent to write correct SQL against them. Text-to-SQL crossed the 90% accuracy bar on real schemas in 2025. The remaining work is the operator-facing surface — chat, with a chart as a side effect.
The idea you could build today
Connect to one warehouse. Ingest schema + foreign keys + a 100-row sample. Operator asks a question. Agent generates SQL, runs it, returns three sentences of interpretation plus an optional chart. Save the chat thread — that's the new dashboard.

Matched against the current-period startup signal panel (data-infrastructure, enterprise-saas, ai-ml). Rankings shift weekly as the underlying GitHub activity moves. Read the methodology.
The seed-round pattern hiding in the trendline
Metabase / Superset forks that ship a text-to-SQL module hit the velocity pattern. The fork itself isn't the bet — the wholly new repo that beats them to the agent-first product is.
They ship AI as a sidebar. The product here is AI-first — the dashboard is a generated artifact, not the primary surface.
Use the signal, not just the idea
The repos above re-rank automatically as commit velocity, contributor growth, and new-repo creation move. Want the data feed for this idea wired into your own stack? The MCP server exposes every signal as a tool any agent host can query.
Updated 2026-05-18. The framing is editorial; the “three repos already trying” slot is generated from the live signal panel. Anonymity rule: we name public GitHub orgs, never individual founders or stealth teams.
