The named enemy is warm-intro roulette. A sourcing system that rewards proximity to the right rolodex and punishes builders three time zones away from a partner's lunch table. We're replacing that roulette with a public, reproducible, code-side signal anyone with curiosity can read. We don't need to defeat the warm-intro economy — we need to make it possible for the next generation of investors to source without depending on it.
How to know if you're on the bus. Three filters. One: you'd rather verify a methodology than read a marketing one-pager. Two: you measure conviction in the underlying signal, not in the brand of the data vendor. Three: you'd rather have a 4 percent noise rate honestly disclosed than a 0 percent noise rate marketing-disclaimed. If all three are true, you're on the bus.
Where to start. Today: read the SSRN paper, run the reproducibility notebook, scan the weekly digest. This week: pick one sector, run the 14-day window across the public dataset, name three orgs you'd watch.
